Reason why Kaththi is a bigger hit than SRK's Happy New Year

This diwali was marked by two massive releases in Shah Rukh's Khan's Happy New Year and Ilayathalapathy's Kaththi. SRK's Happy New Year is moving towards a gross of ₹355 crore while Kaththi is inching towards grossing ₹110 crores worldwide.

Now on first look a gross of  ₹355 crore may mean Happy New Year has outperformed Kaththi but the actual truth is that Kaththi is a bigger hit than Happy New Year at the box office. Here are some reasons why

• Bollywood's reach spreads to US, UK, Australia, France and even African countries. Even with such a global reach Happy New Year is struggling to reach ₹200 crore in India while it has overall made close to 355 crores.
• Apart from South Indian states, Tamil films perform only in Malaysia, Singapore, UK and US meaning Bollywood movie gets 45% of collection from overseas but Kollywood it constitutes just 25%.
• with Dhoom 3 setting the standard for Bollywood markets, grossing ₹355+ crore in India alone.Happy New Year is far lesser than the Bollywood standards. Whereas, in the history of Kollywood, only four movies have crossed ₹100 crore mark and Kaththi is one among them.
• For Kollywood, Superstar's Enthiran remains the highest grossing movie with ₹150+ crore for the Tamil version and the success of Kaththi is no less than a big achievement.
• Huge Promotions - SRK's Happy New Year was promoted in every nook and corner of India and the world. But Kaththi had very low-key promotions.Apart from few press meets nothing was else was done for Kaththi.

Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan was recently in Chennai promoting his Diwali release Happy New Year. The 8 packed star in an interview was quizzed if he is still in touch with Vijay whom he met at two consecutive award functions. SRK said  "I do. I would love to meet Vijay and have a chat with him".

SRK went on add that (Kollywood actors) "They (Tamil actors) are all very warm towards me and treat me like I am some special guest. I am lucky to know senior actors Rajini and Kamal sirs and learn from their work.”

The Highest Paid Actor in Indian Cinema is ?

Fans  there is currently a huge buzz going around that Hrithik Roshan will be paid Rs.50 Crores for Ashutosh Gowariker's "Mohenjo Daro" making him the highest paid actor in the country surpassing our very own Superstar Rajinikanth.

According to a source. "The modalities are being worked out and the studio will come on board in the next 15 days. Hrithik's first-of-its-kind pay structure has been taken into account.". Trade analyst Amod Mehra said "This will make Hrithik the highest paid actor in the country and Mohenjo Daro the most expensive film."

King Khan is who currently shooting for his Upcoming flick "Happy New Year" recently caught up with Director Vishnuvardhan. The duo have worked together when Vishnuvardhan was the associate of Santhosh Sivan while SRK was doing Ashoka in 2001 which also had Thala Ajith.

The duo shared some nostalgic moments about Ashoka and Shah Rukh also mentioned that he had loved the trailer of Ajith starrer Arrambam though he hasn't watched the movie yet. Sources Add Vishnuvardhan next could be a Bollywood flick which could very well be an Arrambam remake..

It's Official Now Dhanush Replaces Shah Rukh Khan

As SS Music earlier reported there was a huge buzz going around that Dhanush would pair up with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan for ace Director Balki's next. Some were circumspect with the report because Shah Rukh Khan had already allocated his dates for this Balki flick and reports that Dhanush would replace SRK was too unreal for many. However Dhanush has himself confirmed that he has indeen been signed up by the Cheeni Kum and Paa Director to share screen space with Big B. Ilayaraja would be scoring the music with P.C.Sreeram being the cinematographer. Akshara Haasan was also associated the same project but we are yet to receive confirmation on that.

Shah Rukh Khan who was shooting in Dubai for his upcoming movie Happy New year throwed a special party to our Kollywood stars. Post the SIIMA Awards, our Kollywood celebs Dhanush, Shriya, Trisha, Rana Daggubati and Arya headed out to SRK's house in Dubai.

SRK played the host to the party by ensuring no one left his house without a dip in the pool. SRK even pushed some celebs in to the pool. SRK then freshened up and left for his shoot and it was Sohail Khan's turn to play host. He was joined by SRK's better half Gauri Khan and her gang of girls — Maheep Kapoor, Nandita Mahtani, Sabina and others.  I'd sent the first cut to Soundarya(Rajinikanth's Daughter) and it was very sweet of them to let us do the song. His (Rajinikanth) wife has also sent us a letter signed by him. When Yo Yo Honey Singh told me he wanted to do a song on a Superstar, for one brief moment, I thought he was talking about me. But of course, there's just one Superstar — Rajinikanth. When we had drafted the first script of the film, there was a scene in which I get covered in mud and pose like him. People think it's Rajini, and out of respect, move away. But we didn't shoot the scene because I couldn't perform like Rajini sir at all. Making a film called Chennai Express and not having Rajini sir in it was not happening!
