The Legendary Mohanlal was admitted to a hospital after suffering from severe leg pain for the past four days. Mohanlal had been postponing treatment due to his busy schedule and was hospitalized after the pain had aggravated. 

Sandra Thomas, Producer of Mohanlal's next film Peruchazi posted this on his facebook page  "Met our Peruchazhi. His leg pain is getting better and looks like he will be back in action in four days. We are waiting for the peruchazhi to do the music launch. God bless him."

A Ban on Kamal Haasan remaking Drishyam in Tamil

The Mohanlal Starrer Drishyam was 2013's biggest blockbuster, the critically acclaimed movie was set to be remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The Tollywood version Drushyam starring Venkatesh and Meena which was recently released was also declared huge hit.

Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan who has wrapped up Uthama Villain was all set to commence the tamil remake of the film and hence a Poojai was held. Now the latest is that a court in Ernakulam has just issued a ban on Tamil remake of the film.

Satish Paul from Koothu Mangalam seeked a petition stating that the film Drishyam was actually based on his novel, "Oru Mazhakkalath" and hence the remake right belonged to him  He went on to add that a Tamil remake is being made without seeking his permission and hence the film should be banned.

After hearing the petition the court has issued a ban on remaking Drishyam in Tamil.

After the runaway success of Jilla, Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal has shown interest in acting at least one Tamil film in a year. Sources now report that Mohanlal has already signed up to do a Kollywood remake of hit Bollywood flick Ishqiya (2010).

Sources add Mohanlal will reprise Naseeruddin Shah's role while Arya will play Arshad Warsi's role and Lakshmi Rai replacing Vidya Balan's role. Ishqiya was black comedy thriller who's sequel Dedh Ishqiya also hit the screens on January 10th 2014.

Along with Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal, 50 people from the Jilla team participated in the party hosted by Vijay and his wife Sangeetha. Veterans director Bhagyaraj and Vairamuthu were also part of the celebrations. The entire team cut the special cake which said “Sivanum Sakthiyum serntha Mass da.”  Vijay has held parties earlier for Thuppakki, Nanban and for Velayudham.

Vijay's Jilla Crosses 100 Crore Mark

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Pongal fest Jilla has just reached the 100 Crore mark. Though the it's not about the Film's net collection But counting the overall business including satellite rights, distribution rights etc.

Distribution Rights - The distribution rights of Jilla of all regions have reportedly fetched Rs 34 crores for the movie bosses. This by any yardstick is very huge. 

Overseas Distribution Right - Jilla was in demand in the countries like Malaysia, UK and some other countries. The producer sold the overseas rights of the various countries considering the fan following of Vijay. Overall, the film has collected Rs 11 crores from different regions.

Kerala Distribution Rights - Kerala market just got bigger for a Vijay movie this time due to the Mohanlal factor. Usually, Illayathalapathy movies' used to fetch 1-2 crores. But this time it was sold for Rs 4 crores to Mohanlal itself.

Karnataka Distribution Rights - Vijay has a good fan following in Karnataka. As a result, his movies often generated good revenue in the neighbouring state. This time, his movie was sold for Rs 2 crore.

Rest of India Rights - The rights of rest of India rights have been sold for about Rs 1 crore. The Telugu rights is expected to fetch somewhere around Rs 3-4 crores.

Satellite Rights - The TV rights of Jilla has been bought by Sun TV. They have reportedly paid Rs 16 crores. The deal includes the screening of the movie on Malayalam channels owned by the Sun Network.

Music Rights - Star Music acquired the audio rights of Jilla for Rs 1 crore.

Total Business Through Rights - The total business that Jilla has made through theatrical and audio rights is Rs 69 crores. Now, let us look into the figures of Box Office collection.

Box Office Collection - In Tamil Nadu, the first four days at collection centres have been outstanding. The film has made around Rs 28 crores (Gross) starting from Friday to Monday.

• Kerala - In Kerala, Jilla has got an earth-shattering response, as it has made Rs 4 crores in the first weekend. This is a huge collection for a Tamil movie in this part of the world.
• Karnataka - The response for Jilla has been good in Karnataka. Though the occupancy varied from show to show, the collection is impressive. In the first four days, it has earned Rs 1 crore + in the state.
• US - Vijay's Jilla has made 192,858 USD (1.19 crores) from 69 screens. The Tamil flick made 60,000 USD, 72,000 USD and 27,000 USD on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
• UK - Jilla is in the numero uno position in the UK. The film made £ 152,552 (1.54 crores) from 44 screens in the first weekend.
• Australia - Jilla has collected A$ 31,679 (17.59 lakhs) from three screens. Unlike the US and the UK, the film did not have a wide release.
• Malayasia - Vijay starrer film is top at Malaysia Box Office too. Jilla has made 78.02 lacs from 36 screens in the first weekend.

Total Box Office Collection - Till Date The total box office collection of Jilla from worldwide for four days comes around Rs 36 crores. 36 Crores (Box Office Collection) + 69 Crores (Rights) = 105 Crore It means that Jilla has made Rs 100 crores business. Please note that we are not talking about the NETT AMOUNT.

There has been a buzz for sometime now that there was slightly some confusion brewing in Jilla camp, The confusion was regarding whose name should appear first on the title card of the film - Vijay or Mohanlal. 

A reliable source revealed that  "The crew of Jilla had been thinking about the placement of names of Vijay and Mohanlal on the title card. First, Mohanlal called up the director and asked him to take Vijay's name first as Vijay is a bigger star in Tamil Nadu. However, Vijay requested the director to carry Mohanlal's name first, reasoning that with 35 years of experience in the film industry, the veteran's name should naturally be placed first."

Director of the movie Nesan has now confirmed that Yes, Mohanlal's name will appear first on the title card before Vijay's."
