The Thala of Kollywood has apparently impressed both the second generations of Superstar and Ulaganayagan. It's known that Soundarya Rajinikanth in a recent interview named Ajith as the one actor she would like to act with and added that she admired Thala a lot and said "I admire Ajith sir a lot, he is someone I look up too and i love to learn with him and share his vision."

Soundarya Rajinikanth who is making her directorial debut with Superstar's Kochadaiiyaan in a recent interview revealed she would like to direct her brother in law Dhanush. Soundarya said she was absolutely stunned with Dhanush's performance in Raanjhnaa, "I loved it! I told my brother-in-law how well he fit into that role of Kundan, and I loved the songs! He did an outstanding job in the film," Soundarya told IANS.

Soundarya about the prospect of directing him said "Let's see...this ('Kochadaiyaan') is my first film and I would like to direct him. He is a senior actor, let's see if he gives me his dates," she said.

Fans it's known fact that Superstar's Kochadaiiyan trailer was released in a grand manner at Sathyam yesterday. Here are some intresting tit-bits from the grand event 

  • As per the producers, Kochadaiiyan's budget is 125 crores.
  • The movie is currently slated for release on the 11th of April 2014 targeting a Tamil Year weekend release.
  • Superstar Rajinikanth has three roles in Kochadaiiyan - One the title role 'Kochadaiiyaan' and two sons 'Rana' and 'Sena'.
  • Director Soundarya Rajinikanth revealed that if someone had got her the dates of Dhanush she would have definitely given him a role in the film.
  • Both K.S Ravikumar and Shankar while they spoke were asked by fans to reveal if their next film was with Superstar ? However both the directors diplomatically declined the request.

Superstar Rajinikanth's much anticipated movie Kochadaiiyaan's audio will be launched on March 9th at Sathyam Cinemas. After several postponements, Soundarya Rajinikanth the director of Kochadaiiyaan finally tweeted

The audio launch is expected to be a mega event with Amitabh Bachchan doing the honours. Oscar Hero A.R.Rahman has composed music for this magnum opus.

Written by KS Ravikumar, the film features Sarathkumar,Deepika Padukone, Shobhana, Jackie Shroff and Nassar. Kochadaiiyaan is india first movie to utilize performance capture technology.

Superstar's Kochadaiyaaan which was initially scheduled for release on Pongal alongside Jilla and Veeram  has now been officially postponed. Originally spelled as Kochadaiyaan, the film was renamed (with an extra "i") for numerological reasons, There is also a buzz that another villain character of Superstar is being added to the movie to make it even more interesting and hence the delay.

Deepika Padukone has received a salary of 3 crores for her 2 days of time in Kochadaiyaan shooting. It's a well known fact that Soundarya Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan is India first 3D motion capture picture. The director Soundarya in a recent interview revealed that the scenes involving Deepika were shot in under 48 hours and they paid the bollywood beauty 3 crores as salary for her time.

Before Deepika signed on the dotted line the makers tried to rope in Vidya Balan, Katrina Kaif among others but those options didn't work out.

Soundarya Rajinikanth is currently ecstatic over the record smashing teaser response from the fans for her Kochadaiyaan starring her father, Our very own Superstar. In line with the teaser response, Soundarya felt releasing the movie on Diwali would be best shot and has approached her father for the approval. Rajinikanth has however asked Soundarya to not release it for Diwali, but target Pongal instead.
A source close to Superstar adds, Considering Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 is releasing on Diwali and Superstar did not want his movie Kochadaiyaan to be releasing on the same day. The Makers are now targetting Superstar's Birthday December 12th as a possible release date.

Debutant Director Soundarya Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan has already broken all Kollywood records by smashing the 2 Million Youtube view count in just 2 days.The Director and Daughter of Rajinikanth in a recent interview to Times of India opened up on the movie, her love life and her relationship with her Sister and her Husband Dhanush.
Here are some excerpts from the interview

 Let's talk about your film Kochadaiiyaan...
I started Sultan six years ago and for various reasons, it was dropped. I want to make it clear that Sultan is not Kochadaiiyaan. However, there are three things in common — one, I am still in animation, second, it does feature my dad, and third, it is performance-captured animation. At that time, the animation technology available was basic and it would have turned out cartoonish. But God's unseen hands were there and we stopped at that time and then Rana was launched and that had to be put on hold, as my father was not keeping well. But just because Rana was dropped, I did not drop and will not drop my passion for animation. KS Ravikumar, who has directed two films with my dad, was to direct Rana and we thought of a prequel to Rana. So Kochadaiiyaan is Rana's father in the movie. Ko means king, Chadaiiyaan means a man with a lot of hair. It's a fictitious story of a clan that worships Lord Shiva. It is India's first performance-captured film. People perform, are captured and then put into their 3D version. Animation is a word, a process. In India, people think animation is cartoon. Avatar was animation, but is not a cartoon. Tintin is completely cartoonistic. I am creating Rajinikanth, where he has actually performed, it's captured on a camera and then put into a 3D version. Avatar took seven years and so much budget and a James Cameron. There was always the insecurity of the unknown, but we have taken a road never taken in India and broken rules and have completed the film in just a year and a half.

 You are the first daughter to be directing a father. How was the experience?
I used to watch films in all languages, but was always a Rajinikanth fan. So, first and foremost, it was such a blessing directing him in my first film. I would say 'action' but even when the scene was over, I would not say 'cut' as I just wanted to continue seeing him perform. I would see rushes and start clapping in my room. It was awkward for him, with me as the director. My mom once asked me what I was shooting and I said, 'I am shooting a romantic scene with appa.' It was cute, but awkward. I am extremely possessive and protective about him. I wanted him to take breaks and have his meals on time. The daughter in me came out at times like that, the fan in me came out when I enjoyed his performance and the director in me came out when I had to finish the schedule of the day. I was aware and conscious of his health. He is perfectly fine today by God's grace and all the prayers. But when we were shooting, he had just come out of his illness, so it was too much on him. I am aware of the responsibility of directing him, as his fans want to see him as he is, I being one, too.

 Let's talk about your sister Aishwarya (married to Dhanush) who is also a director...
She is the opposite of me. I am more an extrovert, while she is not. When she went for the veena, I went for golf. Be it food or clothes, she is more Indian. We have a unique relationship, where we don't talk all the time, but we are both directors and have a lot of discussions and make films in different genres. Once my dad saw the film and said, 'Super, go ahead,' the other two people I wanted to show the film to was my sister, and my husband, who is my worst critic.

 Let's talk about your husband Ashwin...
He is a Brahmin and runs a family construction business. We met in the gym six years before we got married, which was three years ago. For days, we kept working out and making eye contact with each other till one day when he was coming in and I was leaving. There was a staircase that goes down and I was walking ahead and he walked past me and turned around, looked at me, stuck out his thumb upward and said, 'Rajinikanth's daughter? Big fan!' We eyed each other and he left. And I thought to myself, how can that be the opening line? I was so disappointed and angry. Cut to five years later, we met at a common friend's place. And then things happened that should have happened earlier. He then took me back to the same staircase and proposed to me at the same place. I am emotional and, of course, I said yes. He told me after proposing, 'By the way I was in your house yesterday. Your dad saw the ring and approved.'

 I later got to know that my sister had briefed my dad that Ashwin and I were dating. And Ashwin took my dad's permission before he proposed to me. It was a different experience for my dad, too. Dhanush and my dad's lifestyle is similar. My sister's transition post marriage was thus easier. For me, even after three years, I am still adjusting as it is a different environment. Apart from Ashwin being a good looker, he is a really simple and honest person. We are on the same page when it comes to our values pertaining to our families or our responsibilities. We both give importance to our families. I am extremely family-oriented and they come first. It's important that they are happy and they approve of what I do.

The Official Story of Kochadaiyaan Revealed

After the aftermath of the Kochadaiyaan's Film Producer confirming Kochadaiyaan release this year. The story of Superstar movie was revealed in a Daily today which was also confirmed by the Director Soundarya Rajinikanth.

"Father Rajinikanth rules a country which prospers under his generous rule, He shares all the country's wealth for the people. However a group of Royals under the King, Revolt against him using dirty tactics throw King Rajinikanth out of the country and steal his Kingship. That's when Son Rajinikanth is born who under the training of his Father excels far more and forms a small group in the forest in hiding.The small group under the rule of Son Rajinikanth revolt against the traitors and look to win back the country. This forms the core of the Kochadaiyaan story."
The scenes of Rajnikant battling a Shark is believed to match the Hollywood standards of Tintin and Avatar. Director K.S Ravikumar recently revealed that Rajinikanth was all praises after seeing the finished product of Kochadaiyaan but he did not want to make it public because his daughter was the Director of the movie.

Though it's been a year since Superstar completed shooting for Kochadaiyaan he is yet commit to another movie. This has led to various rumors linking Superstar with several directors with the likes of K.V Anand, A.R Murugadoss and very recently K.S Ravikumar.
Now the latest buzz coming in from Kochadaiyaan's camp is that Soundarya has locked Kochadaiyaan for Diwali release following Superstar's advice and Superstar himself has been impressed by a K.S Ravikumar script which could most probably be his next movie.

Vijayalakshmi who rose to fame with Venkat Prabhu's Chennai 28 has been making the headlines for some weeks now, The reason being reports of Vijayalakshmi refusing to dub for Superstar's Kochadaiyaan. 
The upcoming actress was initially signed up by Soundarya to pair up with Superstar Rajinikanth in Sultan the Warrior, however film shooting lasted only for a week before the film was abandoned. So obviously when Soundarya started Kochadaiyaan she was expecting to be roped in as Superstar's heroine, But Deepika Padukone was signed up instead.
But Deepika's inability to dub in tamil for Kochadaiyaan meant Soundarya approaching Vijayalakshmi once again but for dubbing this time, Reports have it that the actress has refused to dub for the movie, However Vijayalakhsmi has laughed off these reports saying Sultan experience will always be special to her and she was never approached to dub for Kochadaiyaan.

Superstar's Kochadaiyaan's trailer was all set to be unveiled in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, however the team backed out at the last moment. This sparked a rage of rumours citing Superstar's bad health was the reason why Superstar did not travel to Cannes. However Dr.Murali Manohar Producer of Superstar's Kochadaiyaan has rubbished off this rumor saying its's just a figment of imagination of the press.

 "Rajinikanth wanted some improvements in the trailer, We had no time to prepare the trailer and make the correction because rendering takes alot of time for a motion capture movie like this, this is the only reason he did not go, Though Rajini did like the trailer he wanted it to reflect the fact that Kochadaiyaan is a film ahead of its time at least by 3-4 years. Rajini is definitely back to his usual self more than a year ago, Reports claiming the Cannes was cancelled due to Rajini's bad health are just imaginary and an attempt to damage Rajini's actual state of health. We decided to go by Rajini's advice not to race against time in making a perfect trailer so as to screen it at Cannes. We are not bothered or disappointed that the trailer couldn't be released in Cannes. There are plenty of film festivals happening around the world and new trailer would be ready within next 15 days or so.. We just wanted to ensure that the final product did match the expectations and the hopes and dreams of the millions of fans of Superstar.".

Superstar's Kochadaiyaan is racking up the expectation meter more and more , the film narrowly missed out on the prestigious Cannes Film Festival as the team were unable to complete the trailer cut on time. 
The latest buzz on Kochadaiyaan is that the Audio launch will be held in Tokyo , since Rajini enjoys a massive fanfare over there, the team have zero'd in on Japan as the right place to host the Audio Launch.
