Lakshmy Ramakrishnan a versatile actor and recently turned Film maker with 'Aarohanam' one of the best movie of recent times expressed her views on Ethir Neechal in her twitter account, This sparked off a controversy when Dhananjayan Govind the Chief - South Business, Studios of Disney-UTV Motion Pictures criticized her for expressing her views.

Here is a quick review of what Lakshmy had to say regarding the Ethir Neechal Movie

• The story of the athlete told thru a vetti, lover boy and a heroine for glamour sake:-) with one liners and a bar song!
• Watched ethirneechal, shiva has got it in him:-) people love him & he is extremely cute:-) very good package with dhanush& Nayan cameo...
• Shiva has it in him:-) he is a favorite:-) but he is capable of much more inspite of not having a convincing storyline, shiva carried it:-)... even priya! She is beautiful & talented....
• But...am not able to say it is a great film.Did not get satisfied as a layman, as a film lover.initially felt shiva was imitaing Dhanush:-) Esp the song where he danced in the streets:-) reminded me of Yathe...Yathe...:-)
• It is also hurting to see all these wonderful, very talented heroines exposing for the sake of it... why priyaaa?! feeling sad b'cas there is  already so much perversion & why unnecessarily objectify women? if there is a need for a sensous sequence, let it be... not for saleability
• The aftermath of such portrayal of women is gruesome... pervertion is on the high!
• Same Ethirneechal may not work without shiva & if audience appreciate good cinema, the Director would not have been forced to package...  How many such athlete sports stories have come... how many are even aware of such films? It is a package, audience r asking for it!
• It is a requirement these days to package good stuff with masala! My worry is... the girls exposing so much... 
• We are running short of good scripts & just accepting good packages.the exposing done by the female characters?kids watch it?
