Ilayathalapathy & Bharathiraja reveal their Favourite Film

Karthik Subaraj's Jigarthanda is undoubtedly one of the best film released this year. The accolades are still pouring in for this cult classic. Recently the film was selected for South Asian International Film Festival, Now Ilayathalapathy Vijay in a recent twitter interaction said Jigarthanda was one of his favourite in recent times. A delighted Karthik Subbaraj made this tweet

The Legendary Director Bharathiraja has now praised the film stating I didn't sleep for three continuous days after watching Nayagan and now after watching Jigarthanda I had the same effect. After watching Jigarthanda's trailer, I accused him of showing too much violence. He proved me wrong with the movie" said Bharathiraja.

Sigappu Rojakkal 2 !

The legendary Bharathiraja has delivered numerous gems in his illustrious career but there is one movie which stood out far ahead of its time in terms of execution, style and content yes we are talking about Sigappu Rojakkal. This crime thriller starring Kamal Haasan was in news recently when reports circulated on Bharathiraja remaking the film.

The ace director has now clarified that he is not remaking the film instead he is working on a sequel to the film. Bharathiraja added that remakes were not his style and the film had a lot of scope for a sequel and he is currently working on the script and the official announcement will be made soon.

When Actor Paroota Soori was Manhandled in Bharathiraja Office

Vishal's Pandianadu audio launch happened yesterday, The star-studded event was marked by actor Parotta Soori interesting experience he had with Director Bharathiraja.

Here's the incident explained by Actor Paroota Soori

"Early stages of my career, I used to regularly go to Director Bharathiraja's office with my friend seeking an acting opportunity. Every single time i went, I was sent out and was not allowed to even meet Bharathiraja sir, Even after several attempts i couldn't even catch a glimpse of the Director. But when i spoke to a laundry person nearby Sir's office, he asked me to dress up in Veshti instead of being dressed in pant, because Bharathiraja directs Village subjects.

I took the advice and went the next day to Sir's office in Veshti, I was shocked to see that few others were also dressed up in the same veshti. The people there welcomed me and asked me to wait. Ironically i learned that some local vendor dressed in Similar clothes had stole a car tyre from Bharathiraja's car the previous day. I realized then that these people in veshti were actually present for an investigation. Suddenly a few people came in and started man handling us. I ran and tried to hide but It was only later, that the people at the office realized that my friend and i had actually come for an film chance and immediately apologized to us, I never stepped into that office again.

But now i am extremely happy to finally acted alongside Bharathiraja sir in Pandianadu, There is actually a scene in the movie where Vishal and I take Bharathiraja in a stretcher. I touched his feet and took his blessing while acting in that scene, I am so grateful and happy for what i am today".

When Sri Devi spat on Rajinikanth for Real !

As SS Music earlier reported Bharathiraja's epic movie 16 Vayathinale is about to digitally re-released. The trailer launch of the classic was held where Superstar, Ulaganayagan and the ace Director Bharathiraja were all present. Superstar was quite nostalgic when he spoke at the event 

"During the shoot, no one would talk to me, as I was a relative newcomer. It was Kamal, to whom the production people went, to have a chat,When Rajkannu (Producer) met me about re-releasing 16 Vayathinile a few months back, he told me that we should give away the collections to Kamal, who was at that time having difficulties in releasing Vishwaroopam. It is difficult to find such persons in our film industry."

Ulaganayagan spoke on how the film had to overcome several odds in order to get released.

"The majority of comments that we got when making the film was that it would flop. In fact, when I was driving from the studio, a person riding a bike came up to me and said that the film will tank, When we shot the scene of Mayilu running in slow motion, we did not have the budget to afford a camera that could shoot slow motion scenes. So, Sridevi literally ran in slow motion."

The legendary Director Bharathiraja revealed that Rajini told Sridevi to spit on him for real in the scene in which Mayilu spits on the face of Parattai. "It was taking several takes to shoot the scene and finally, Rajini went to Sridevi and told her to go ahead and spit for real. Such was his dedication," he remarked.

Ban on Bharathiraja's Annakodi ?

Following the ban episode on Vishwaroopam, almost every odd movie that releases has now come under the threat of being banned. The latest movie that has suffered the fate is Bharathiraja's Annakodi.

A petition has been filed by Thevar Pasarai Iyakkam president AK Ragupathy stating that "The Film is a love story between Thevar girl and a Dalit boy, it may create communal clashes between groups."

The petitioner added that the content the film were against 5B of cinematographic Act 1952, but the Central Board of Film Certification have awarded U/A and have granted permission for release. Raghupathy demanded the movie be banned in the South Tamil Nadu.

However the Judge asked the petitioner if he had seen the movie to which he replied No. Following which the judge said the petitioner cannot presume that the movie will cause communal imbalance without even seeing the movie, Hence the case was postponed to Friday, the day of Annakodi release.
