The breaking story emerging from the previous week was Surya dramatically deciding to drop Gautham Menon's Dhruva Natchathiram movie. After numerous speculations the project was officially dropped after a press release by Surya where he owed to never work with Gautham Menon again.
Though Surya stated that Gautham Menon did not present the complete story even after months in waiting and this was the reason why he dropped the movie, GVM did keep re-stating the fact that Surya did not like the initial script but he was re-working on it and even assured just days before official release that "Reworked a script for suriya. Hopefully we'll start very soon. Lots of writing, lots of scripts in hand now. Here's to good times ahead".
The latest buzz emerging from Kollywood may finally answer why Suriya did drop the movie
Dhruva Natchathiram was supposedly a period movie which was based on events dating to Pre-Independence era. Though the movie was a 3 hour flick, Surya onscreen duration was just for single hour. Like Surya, Gautham Menon had also placed heavy content on other leads like Parthiban and Simran in the storyline. When Surya quizzed Gautham Menon on If he was really the Hero of the movie, the Director then tried to increase his portions in the movie. But Surya wasn't happy even with re-worked script and wasn't ready to play second fiddle in the movie and hence dropped the project completely.
