The epic "16 Vayathinile" which starred Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and Superstar Rajinikanth is all set for a digital re-release. This Bharathiraja's classic was made at a budget of 5 lakhs and Kamal Haasan was then the highest paid actor with a salary of 27000 Rs, Whereas Superstar Rajinikanth was paid 3000 Rs.

The movie also starred the effervescent Sri-Devi, Goundamani and many others. Ilayaraja’s music for the film is still considered one of his masterpieces.
